Colico is a municipality with a population of 6,260 in the province of Lecco. It is situated at the intersection of important roads, such as the SS 36 of Lake Como and the Spluga Pass, which connects Milan and Brianza with Lario and Valchiavenna, and the SS 38 of Stelvio. The town is dominated by the imposing Mount Legnone (2609 meters). It is a resort town with good accommodations and is very popular during the summer season. For two years, it has hosted the Italian stage of the Kitesurfing World Cup. To get there, you can drive on the SS 36, take the Colico Piona exit, take the Milan-Lecco-Sondrio line of the State Railways, or fly into Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, or Orio al Serio (Bergamo) airports. From the north, you can reach it via the Spluga Pass on the Italian-Swiss border, or via the Bernina, Stelvio, or Maloja Pass. If coming from Colico, follow the signs for Villatico via Bassana n° 19.
