Cerro is one of the most charming locations on Lake Maggiore, just five minutes from the center of Laveno Mombello, the Hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso, and the main points of interest in the area. From the Gardens on the Lake, you can easily reach the beautiful beach of Cerro, where you can spend relaxing days and admire fantastic sunsets with views of Stresa and the Borromean Islands. If you wish, you can try the local characteristic restaurants and bars, all within a short walk along the beautiful lakeside promenade. In Laveno, you can take the spectacular cable car up to the 1000 meters of Monte Sasso del Ferro or enjoy pleasant evenings in the many different venues. Even in the winter months, the area offers numerous tourist and cultural attractions. In particular, during the Christmas period, you can visit the historic Submerged Nativity Scene from the panoramic terrace of Piazza Caduti del Lavoro. If you head towards Leggiuno, you can reach the Hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso, a 13th-century monastery perched on the lake, listed as a UNESCO site. In the direction of Valcuvia, you will find two other gems: Villa Della Porta Bozzolo and the painted village of Arcumeggia. From Laveno, you can also take the ferry, which will take you to the Piedmontese shores of Lake Maggiore in just 20 minutes. Don't miss the Borromean Islands and the blooming gardens of Villa Taranto. By train or car, you can reach Varese in 30 minutes, where you can visit places like the Sacred Mountain (listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site) or immerse yourself in the beauty of the Campo dei Fiori Natural Park. From Cerro, you can walk or bike along some of the paths of the Via Verde Varesina for pleasant hiking or mountain biking excursions. For those equipped, you can also use canoes, kayaks, or small boats directly from Cerro.
