A thousand years earlier, the village of Oreno, adjacent to the larger Vicus Mercati (Vimercate) yet possessing its own distinct identity, developed around an ancient Augustinian convent. This convent likely had its entrance in the small tower that still houses a dovecote, located within the Rustic Court, right next to the aforementioned frescoed room. It is rare to find a complete cycle of frescoes in good condition within an entire room, as the critical spirit typical of the Lombardy region has often led to the destruction and total reconstruction of buildings. Here, a combination of fate, the transfer of ownership of the Court from the Della Padella family to the D’Adda family, and later in the 17th century to the Borromeo family, along with the use of purifying lime, resulted in the realization in 1927 of the significance of this place, allowing for its preservation and the maintenance of its uniqueness.
